A European wild rose variety that planted itself under the canopy of a larger Juniper bush. Rather surprising as I have not seen any other of these in the area. Also growing in the shelter of a Juniper is a very rare achievement all by itself. Some of the spikes on this bush are 2 meters high, very different from the lower bushier Alberta wild rose, which is all over the place.

Colours are not quite this brilliant but WTH.

RTM: I'm a sucker for the texture of weathered old wood... nice.

On the road to the Ouimet Canyon, a smidge north-east of T-Bay. Early May of this year. I drove in, only to find out that the steepish road up the canyon itself was closed! Man, was I disappointed. I'd seen it once before, in the late 80s, and it really impressed me. Will have to get back up there again sometime, when it's proper summer.

Thanks. This shot on my hillside jungle which the town hates and I refuse to cut.

Can't quite put my finger on it but there's a cool cave-painting thing going on in that shot Max.

Nice unicycle/street shot, Doug. Toronto or Montreal?

RTM: your Eisenwood texture feast has a very insectile face in it. I'm thinking preying mantis. Cool.

A mate to the EisenWood shot. I could do an entire portfolio with just that fence.

Despite some really rich colors this one screamed for sepia.

For whatever reason the deer seem to be posing for me this summer. They do owe us that much for all the pansies they've nibbled.

Long hike yesterday in what was new territory at least for me. Lots of images I liked but will start with this one. A normal-under blend.

iPhone shot panorama of Summerland, BC (Lake Okanagan, BC).  This is the B&B we were staying at, the view from the veranda ...
