it's lingering. A piece of it there, just hanging on as if to say yeah, go out a screw around and have at'er with little sleep and I'll gotcha again!

Been trying to be a good boy for a while but some friends, really good beers and pub foods upcoming. Wish me well.

did we lose gerk to a pail of paint? ;)

Cleaning my studio today. Hard to believe there's been this much action and recording in here as of late. More to come. I just need to learn what the hell I'm doing. This may help.

Macs / Re: Promise Pegasus R2+

First backup completed - my iMac only, which I keep lean and uncluttered. I set up Time Machine to back up to the new R2 as well as Time Capsule for now. I guess I'll stop using TC at some point soonish though.

Took roughly 30 minutes for to back up 141 gigs of iMac data. I store all my files (photo files, music, personal docs) on the external WD unit so when its turn comes to be backed up it'll take longer as there's about 890 gigs of whatnot on it. Once all the initial full backups are out of the way the incremental hourly ones should complete pretty quickly. We'll see.

During the iMac backup, the temperature of the two drives in the R2 went up by one degree F. Didn't even break a sweat.

The Promise Utility app is pretty good however it doesn't always launch on the first try. Did some lookups and it seems a common enough problem. I don't want to get into troubleshooting it yet though. If it doesn't launch on the first try it always does on the second.

Spring-like indeed - we're +2 right now, and it's been above zero during daylight hours for a few days now. Should hover around +2 for the rest of the day. Up to +9 tomorrow, whee! A bit of rain starting this afternoon, on & off through tomorrow evening.

Macs / Promise Pegasus R2+

Delivered yesterday. Finished tidying up my desktop this morning and set it up - didn't even take ten minutes - this includes switching from the default RAID 0 to RAID 1, and then initializing.

Even for a basic two-disk unit, the R2+ is hefty, extremely solid, and the ventilation fan sure means business. I'm impressed. Gonna let it sit for a few hours before setting it as my backup volume in Time Machine and giving it a whirl.

A few pics below. Thanks for helping me make up my mind Gerk!  8)

A mix of sun and clouds, light winds a mild plus 4°C with the temperature heading into the double digits.  A freezing rain warning for tonight  into Saturday.

Spring like weather for the weekend.

I still have zero desire yet to upgrade, but perhaps I will in a couple weeks. Just finished tracks for a record and just got offered a stack of bills to do another one for a known band! Hard to believe given my lack of knowledge and any real experience with a DAW.

I've hit a wall with what I know now, time to really up my daw skills, namely pro tools since that seems to be the one I've settled on mostly. And I know have a goo idea of the nuances and sound that the pres I'm using sound like, so now, I can truly do a real shootout of the analog API pres I have, vs the UAD using channel stops like the neve and API in unison.
