10.4.0 fried a ton of external hard drives, unrepairably (including a colleague of mine).  It just totally obliterated the b-trees.  There was zero hope of recovery beyond sending it out to professionals.   I'm sure just about any long-standing operating systems can tell some stories of simple things gone wrong ...

I just fired up a 2009 iMac with 10.9 on it (and an SSD).  Core 2 Duo, 4 gigs of ram.  It runs fine.  Running anything newer on that machine is death though.

Ha ha thanks. That was done over a year ago, hilarious happenings, we came in, almost stealthy it seemed to noble studios, man, now that, that is one unbelievable live room!!!! I think third eye blind or something were loading out what seemed like transport trucks worth of road cases...We set up, kinda played through some tunes, thought maybe I could get some hair, eye liner I don o and they said we were already done ha ha ha.

But it was fun, and playing for a Canadian icon is a privilege. I get to do it at the Phoenix next week!

Cloudy, light winds and a few frost flies -1°C. Maybe some freezing drizzle and more snow in flurries.
I can only recall two Mac updates that caused serious damage.

One was 10.3.7 which was jerked within an hour or two, but not before many of those who allowed auto updates had been burned. If I recall the problem hit those who had not changed their drive name from the default "Macintosh HD"

The other was 10.4.1. I think this was the one that forced a lot of people to rebuild the directories on attached external drives, probably something to do with Spotlight metadata. I did not install Tiger until version 10.4.4 so was spared that disaster as well.

I had a slow moment at work this morning and opted to install the update. The sky did not fall. I feel mild relief. Come to think of it, most of my feelings for all things Apple can be described as "mild."

Like the Riverside shot Max. Looks like it's through a windshield, but the newspaper reflections suggest it is from a building.

Two treatments of the same image from a recent trip to Waterton Parks. Everything pretty much closed for the winter except the liquor store. Prince of Wales would be in the shot except the driftwood is blocking it.

yeah. Everybody's in a band. They all know what's like. Blah blah. They went on tour (which usually means they went to quebec for a weekend...) and they got jaded.

I think form the big bunch I recall from my late teens/early 20s, there is only two of us left standing, still going. Funny part was, we both couldn't stand each other. We laugh about that now.
Another reason I'm standing behind pro tools mostly for now. I'll use logic when it makes sense, but I did pick up abelton live some time ago when they ran a crazy heavy sale on it, I'll have a peek at that one too. But being too tied to mac makes me nervous these days.

thx for posting that stuff. Things were a bit simpler at one point and now I'm taking things up a notch but it's also a notch above my experience.

I know the sound I want...
