After the Dust Settles - The PB G4's Shortcomings

I totally agree there Kevyn. I might have considered this machine truly revolutionary (or at least a lot closer to it) had it been less money. I truly think that it would fit a lot better into Apple's current niche (ala iMacs, iBooks) and they would end up selling a _lot_ more in the end. They should have both options IMHO. If you want the big machine with all the bells and whistles sure, but if you want the G4 power in a smaller and more economical form factor then you should be able to get it.

The way things work in the Apple/ppc world is that we get force fed whatever Apple's new vision is. Whether or not it is what we want/need many other factors can push us into the new hardware. In a world where there is infinitie competition (ala Wintel stuff) if one company doesnt provide the features/price you need you can go to the next.

With Apple we do not have this option, so it is all that much more important for Apple to really take the consumers wants and needs into account, and not just the market trends, the asthetics and the presentation value of a new hardware line.
