After the Dust Settles - The PB G4's Shortcomings

Re: Re: The final nail in the coffin                   2:11 AM EST Thu Jan 25, 2001

My point was that the PowerBook G4 is the right machine for me at this time. It's reduced depth and weight make it more convenient for me as a frequent traveler.

I'll give you that the viao is narrower, but at least for me, width isn't a concern. In fact, because I work with spreadsheets all day long, some of which are extra wide, the 128 extra pixels and associated added width will be a plus for me. My new powerbook purchase totalled $2799 for a 400 MHz machine with a 20 gig HD and DVD.

What could I get for $2799 if I were buying a slim and light PC? Do I get get a built in CD drive, let alone DVD? Do I get a monitor made for spreadsheets? Do I get 4-5 hours of real world battery life?

And why do I need a port replicator when i have all my ports *built in*?
