After the Dust Settles - The PB G4's Shortcomings

CD-R Heat Problems                   1:19 PM EST Tue Jan 23, 2001

I see the complaint a lot about the lack of a CD-R on the TiBook. Where's Sony's CD-R? It's available, but external. I noticed the lack of internal CD-R's in Windows Portables about a year ago. When I inquired I found that the problem/excuse/rationale was that a CD-R created much more heat than a CD or DVD.

Perhaps technology has improved to where it's feasible to offer internal CD-R's; I haven't checked up on it lately. But everyone I've seen make this suggestion bases their reasoning on simple form factor. Perhaps it's not so simple.
